Project Greenland - Reuters

Large project published as a special report by Reuters about the climate science taking place in Greenland the summer of 2018. I conceived, researched, pitched, planned logistics for, photographed, shot video and drone footage while reporting this multi-part story that went on to win a Webby award and first place in the large project category of both Pictures of the Year International and Best of Photojournalism. The piece involved several trips to Greenland both with NASA flying above the country and scientists on the ground as they studied glaciers and their interaction with the ocean. The goal was to explain how science is working hard to improve existing climate modeling around sea level rise by studying the massive Greenland Ice Sheet.

Stony Coral Tissue Loss disease - Reuters

Long term project documenting an unidentified disease that has wreaked havoc on the Florida Reef Tract and began jumping to islands throughout the Caribbean in the summer of 2019. Reuters was the first to widely report this story and brought much needed attention to a disease that is actually a more dangerous threat to coral reefs than much more widely covered bleaching events. To execute coverage of this story I became certified to SCUBA dive and learned underwater photography and video to execute the visuals. I conceived, researched, pitched, planned logistics for, photographed and shot video while reporting this story as the only journalist in the field. I also coordinated photographs and video from a freelancer for an additional story to add context.

The Hot list - Reuters

Worked with journalist Maurice Tamman to profile a number of prominent climate scientists that are working in several different ways to understand climate change. From portraiture to taking photographs in the field of their work it was a several month long project leading to a designated microsite and landing page leading to six profiles of scientists from all over the world. This project was designated “Best Multimedia Project” for Reuters for the year 2021.

Climate Pledge - Future Forward

Documentary series commissioned by the Climate Pledge to highlight companies that are part of the pledge and the work they are doing to decrease carbon emissions. I helped the team responsible for creating this project to identify companies or approaches within the Climate Pledge environment that would lend themselves to either a compelling storyline or compelling visuals that would drive effective storytelling.
